The schedule listed on the Calendar of Events has been approved by Randonneurs USA (RUSA) for the 2011 calendar year. Riders will have several opportunities to complete a Super Randonneur series in the St. Louis region. All events for 2011 (March - June) are Audax Club Parisien (ACP) certified brevets and count towards a Super Randonneur (SR) series, thus solidifying your registration for Paris-Brest-Paris.
Events for July and August are RUSA certified brevets and count toward mileage awards, but do not count towards SR awards or PBP qualification. The July and August events are for all riders, but especially for riders wanting more training before a 1,200k event.
My advice for riders planning on qualifying for Paris-Brest-Paris is to read the RUSA Announcements page for the most up to date information. In the mean time, get on your bike and come out for as many brevets as you can. Just remember to keep your priorities in perspective.
Ralph Rognstad is hosting one 200 and one 300 kilometer ACP sanctioned event in Springfield, MO. Events for Southwestern Missouri are shown on my calendar along with registration and ride start times. In case of last minute changes and for additional information, check out Ralph's web site.
Miles Stoneman, a new RBA, has a few events for southern Illinois in 2011. Miles' web site has complete information and his calendar of events. I hope you will support Miles in his effort to expand brevets in southern Illinois.
It is important to remember that SAG support is NOT offered on ANY event. If you can not finish and need to find a way back to the ride start, it is up to you to find your own way. You, your cell phone and a loved one should connect.
